“You’re kicking out your own grandson!” Eunice said, trying to appeal to the grandparents’ feelings. “Don’t you care about him?”
The woman responded with disdain, “You only had this boy to try to hold on to my son. You knew he could find a much better woman than you whenever he wanted.”
These words hit Eunice like a train hitting a vehicle on its rails. If the circumstances were different, she would have responded in kind, or even worse, resorted to violence. However, this was not the time for such a reaction. Her only concern was her son’s future. He was in his room with the door closed, listening to the entire argument.
