My Twenty-second Book — Stories of Faith: Discover the Power of the Faith

This book has a very special meaning for me. It’s my return to Christian short stories, after a year and a half since my last book in this genre (Christian Short Storiesvol. II).

Unlike the previous ones, this work has new features. The first one I’d like to mention is my writing style. AI tools have fueled my prose, making it smoother, and richer with figures of speech and informal touches, all while improving grammar and punctuation.

Furthermore, I improved my knowledge by studying, training, competing (writing contests), etc. All these efforts enriched the level of my work.

Writing Process

This book is the first one I totally wrote in English. It was hard, but deeply rewarding to push my linguistic boundaries.

Writing in English is extremely useful to speed up my process. I’ve already noticed that when I write in a foreign language, I write better, and my text has fewer mistakes.

Moreover, I revise the text in a “reverse translation” in Portuguese in Google Translator. These steps save me numerous hours. I check if it’s well-written and got my Portuguese version at once. After that, I translate it into Spanish directly from English.

Another piece of news in this book is using Portuguese names with accents, tildes, and other things that most English speakers have never seen. I did it because I suppose this makes my text more original, adding a touch of Brazilian authenticity.

For the first time, I’ve used a thesaurus for a non-poetry book. This is an influence of AI tool revisions. All of them indicated I repeated the words, and this forced me to seek alternatives. My long-term companion RhymeZone and AI tools helped me find new words and expressions.

About the Book

I wrote five stories related to faith, and each one of them will give you a unique perspective on feelings, points of view, and personal relationships with God and religion.

Five stories, five perspectives:

André is a patient facing a terrible disease but relies on God’s action.

Simone is a missionary living far from home but closer to many problems in her mission.

José, a drunk and hopeless man, crosses the path of Henrique, a hopeful pastor.

Fernanda is a woman struggling with hardships to keep her faith.

A church wants to use technology to get better results in its community.

My twentieth book — Words of Faith: A Way to Connect You to God

This book marks a new step in my literary style. Like the previous one, The Flame of Truth, was a watershed in my novels.

During the writing, I delved into new styles of poems, verses, metrics, rhymes, etc. The reader will notice a remarkable difference compared to the previous poetic books.

For the first time, there are poems with stanzas with two verses, poems without rhymes (free verse); and a variety of meters in the verses (longs, shorts, mediums); and I used more literary resources as personification, hyperbole, metaphor, etc.

All this makes this book unique and full of new features.

Inspiration

The poems were made from the ideas I got from some sermons I watched on YouTube. In the last months, I accompanied the messages of the pastors Dante Gebel, Joel Osteen, Danilo Montero, Andréa Vargas and Joyce Meyer; and also the inspirational channels: Guided Morning Prayers and Above Inspiration.

The main subject of the poems is the message of hope and faith in God. Besides that, there are biblical stories and poems to make the reader reflect on their behavior and journey in the Christian faith.

Poems written in other languages

Among the new features, is the writing of poems in other languages. Some of them were written originally in English and Spanish. So, they were translated into Portuguese.

I’m proud that I could do it, mainly in English, because I consider it more complicated to rhyme than Spanish.

The Future

I watched many videos and already have too many ideas for the next books. Many incredible poems will be written.

My nineteenth book — The Flame of Truth: Lights in Darkness

I conceived the initial idea for this story 10 years ago. I had a draft with the plot, its characters, and world elements. I used many of them for the writing.

This book represents a milestone in my writer’s journey because it is full of new features.

The first one is the genre. This book is a religious dystopia. For those who are not familiar with this term, dystopia is a story that depicts a world where there is extreme oppression, suffering, injustice, and violence; usually under an authoritarian political regime.

The story takes place in the 22nd century in Brazil, with a reality very far from the present (I hope this reality never comes true).

Another new feature is the inclusion of illustrations. Using the Playground AI tool, I’ve created scenes and characters. I suppose this will make the story more engaging and vivid.

I wrote using Bing AI as an assistant for grammar correction and consultation. Microsoft’s tool helped me to choose more common words and expressions that improve the text/reading flow.

This was the book that took me the longest time to finish, about 7 months from the start of writing to the final punctuation.

I changed my English accent in this book; I switched from British English to American English. I don’t even know why I’ve used a British accent before.

And finally, this book has significant changes in dialogue. Previously, I used : (colon) in the book’s dialogues—wrong for English writing— and now, I’m using “,” (comma). Besides that, I reduced the use of these marks in the text, I studied other books and noticed that the excessive use of them makes the reading slow, like a theatrical play.
