My new book is hot off the presses!

I’m finishing minor details and soon it will be available.

Don’t lose it!

Appreciate samples of the cover and the poem.

“Mind is like a house with many divisions,

At them live memories, feelings, and emotions.

Each of the rooms has its own appearance,

Each one has its own organization and essence.”

My fifteenth book - Christian Poetry Volume IV

This book is the fourth of a series of Christian poetry, with poems written between 2013 and 2014.

There are poems about many subjects related to the Christian religion, biblical narratives, Christian life, personal life, etc.

One more time, during the revision of the poems, I deleted some from the book. And I also edited others.

I've explained the reason in the text of the second book of the series. See the text:

My seventh book - Christian Poetry Volume II

In this book, I followed the same logic as the translation in volume III. I didn't try to keep the exact words. My concern was to keep the same meaning. And one more time, the translation was excellent.

I've used the same logic to set the words of the cross. There are words related to the poems in the book. Besides that, I kept keywords that are on the covers of all books.

My eleventh book - Christian Poetry Volume III

This book is the third one of a series of Christian poetry, with poems written between 2013 and 2014.

There are poems about many subjects related to the Christian religion, biblical narratives, Christian life, personal life, etc.

One more time, during the revision of the poems, I deleted some from the book. And I also edited others.

I've explained the reason in the text of the second book of the series. See the text:

In this book, I did something different while I was translating. Generally, I try translating using the same words as the Portuguese version, but in English (too many times) and Spanish (a few times), it’s hard to find some rhymes.

In this translation, I didn't try to keep the exact words. My concern was to keep the same meaning.

This thought worked very well. I've found better rhymes in many situations. I think this is my best translation.

My ninth book - Behaviors

Finally, we arrived at my last published book (so far), Behaviours. This book has a different proposal from the others. It's my first short storybook. Until now, I have written poems and novels. But now, I tried a new thing.

Picture from Pixabay on Pexels

In the beginning, it was hard to write short stories (Why? Aren't you a writer?). Short stories are a different world. The things need to be quick and brief. I couldn't write a long story.

PIcture from Mohamed Almari on Pexels

However, I couldn't write a very short story, without details, emotions, and everything else.

Picture from jinjireh on Pexels

I had to find a balance between long and short, between quick and slow. After the first pages, I got.

Picture from Shiva Smyth on Pexels

The book has five stories:

The life of my dreams - Two young homeless boys suddenly get everything they dreamed for their lives.

The judgment of humanity - The people of the Earth are judged because of what everyone does.

Two lives - Two pregnant women face different sides of the pregnancy. One of them dreamed about that moment. But to the other, everything is a nightmare.

Limitless - A boy had no limits in his actions, and that led him to a terrible path.

No support - A very smart girl at school has no support from her parents. Only his friends support and admire her.

I tried to write about things that could happen to everyone. And everything is related to human behaviors in these situations.

My eighth book - Exposed Lives

This book has a fun story about its origin.

Picturo from Pixabay on Pexels

I didn't create the history base. (Why? How? Tell me more).

Picture from Olya Kobruseva on Pexels

The original history base has been created by my wife, Ana Carolina. (Is she a writer?). She isn't a writer, she is my inspiration 💓💓💖💖💗💗.

She was always joking about a story. One day I decided to write about that. She helped me to do the first draft.

Picture from Lum3n on Pexels

We made the draft. And I began to write the book. While I was writing I had to change some parts of the story, to fit them better in the book. However, the main idea was kept.

While writing, I found a new tool to support me in translating, Google Docs. This is an excellent tool. You put the text in the document, and there are some suggestions.

Besides that, I found another excellent tool to check Spanish translations, Spanish Checker. The site works like Grammarly, checking grammar, orthography, and  syntaxis, and showing suggestions. The site also gives a grade for the text.

The book talks about a young man, Louis. He is close to marrying his fianceé, Talitha. At the moment where he began to gather his documents for the civil marriage, he had a sad surprise. The hospital and notary public were closed, and there was no information about their files.

Picture from Samer Daboul on Pexels

The search for the documents triggers new happenings. And new people got close to him and his friends.

The book was published on August 22nd, 2021.

My seventh book - Christian Poetry Volume II

This book is the second one of a series of Christian poetry, with poems written between 2013 and 2014.

There are poems about many subjects related to the Christian religion, biblical narratives, Christian life, personal life, etc.

During the revision of the poems, I deleted some from the book. (Why?)

Picture from Plataforma Redigir

At the time that I wrote the poems, I had a narrow vision of Christian life. Today, I'm mature in faith, and I have more knowledge. Because of this, I know that some poems aren't according to biblical teachings. There were no biblical texts to support them. They were only personal opinions.

Picture from Miguel Á. Padriñán on Pexels

Do you remember what I said about the words of the cross in the history of the first book?

I said that I used some logic to set the words in the second book. The logic is using words related to the poems in the book. Besides that, I set keywords that will be on the covers of all books.

My sixth book - Diverse Poems Volume II

This book is a collection of poems from different moments of my life. One part of them is from the beginning of my writing career, between 2011 and 2015. Another part is from 2020.

The subjects of the poems are very diverse. I wrote about relationships, people's attitudes, news, and romance (I love you, Ana Carolina, my princess).

Imagen de Startup Stock Photos on Pexels

The poems from 2020 were strongly influenced by the moment, COVID-19 pandemic.

Picture from Startup Stock Photos on Pexels

I wrote about the worst consequence of the pandemic, deaths. The poems Ten Thousand People and One Hundred Twenty Thousand tell about days when Brazil reached these terrible numbers. (Until today, February 20th, 2025, more than 715,000 have already died).

Manuas - Amazonas / Picture from Exame.com

Besides that, I wrote about animal abandonment (Best friend), politics (The man of the division, Promises for life), and other subjects.

The book was published on April 23rd, 2021, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

Update April 04th, 2022

Continuing my revision to publish on other platforms, I updated this book. I removed some poems from the book. I made it because I understood these poems were not according to the book's purpose.

My fifth book - The path to peace

This book was the longest and most time-consuming project. My delay in publishing wasn't because of the complexity or extension of the book. I have been delayed because I stopped and left this book.

Picture from Suzy Hazelwood on Pexels

I wrote the first version of the book between 2018 and 2019. At that moment, I had no interest in publishing in Spanish and English. I just wanted to write and publish it in Portuguese.

I finished writing close to September 2019. I sent the book to my friend Anderson Camilo, and he made some considerations about it. I revised the book according to his considerations, but I didn't publish it yet. I kept the book stopped.

Picture from cottonbro on Pexels

After some months, I made some publications on Amazon, and I got excited to publish this book. In April 2020, I reviewed the book and translated it to Spanish. Finally, I published it on Amazon.

After some more months, I'd translated all my books into English. Only this one was missing. I did it and published it. This translating marks a watershed in my writing career. After this book, I decided to write simultaneously in three languages. All books since that time have been published like this.

The book has been published on the following dates:

Portuguese and Spanish: September 20th, 2020

English: March 25th, 2021

Let's talk about the book. The story is about a rich man with a bad marriage, without respect and love. At one point, Charles is diagnosed with brain cancer.

He got desperate, without knowing what to do. For the first time in years, he got close to his family.

Picture from Daniel Reche on Pexels

He got so desperate that he sought God's help. He was immature and didn't know anything about religion, God, or cure. He learns how things really work in the worst possible way.

If you want to know the entire path of Charles, read the book.

My third book - Poetry and Life (Life Through the Words)

The poems were written between 2019 and 2020. These were the first poems that I wrote after a long time without writing poems.

In the beginning, I didn't think to gather them in a book. I wrote the poems and sent them to some people on WhatsApp.

The subjects are very diverse. However, most of them are about personal life. About situations and solutions. About thoughts and feelings. I tried to express feelings and perceptions about things.

I had many good replies. People said the poems made them reflect and think about the subject. With this kind of reply, I was satisfied, my mission as a writer had been accomplished.

Picture from Djordje Petrovic on Pexels

Some poems are about things I lived and learned. I poetically expressed my experiences to show other people there is something to learn in all situations. And the most important thing, God is with us all the time

Picture from The mountaineer

The poems have some metrics. Most of them have five stanzas.  And all have long verses. They are like short poetic stories, with a beginning, middle and end. Some of them finish with a reflection or advice.

The book has been published on the following dates:

Portuguese and Spanish: April 04th, 2020

English: January 1st, 2021

Update April 10th, 2022

Continuing my revision to publish on other platforms, I updated this book. This time, I changed virtually everything. I changed the title, cover, and description.

Why did you do it?

To be sincere, I noticed the previous title "Poetry and Life" didn't make sense. The book wasn't a poetry book, it was a book with some reflections about life, and these reflections had a bit of poetry. Then, I decided to change the title for Life through the words.

Besides that, I removed some poems from the book. I made it because I understood these poems were not according to the book's purpose.

I hope these changes help to sell more.

About me

My name is Rafael Lima; I was born in Brazil in 1989.

I suppose my story is an ordinary story of a Brazilian. I was born into a low-income, single-parent household in Brazil (my father didn’t abandon me, but the story is complex and deserves its own space, perhaps in a book). My education was shaped by my mother and grandmother.

My first contact with the school was in a private kindergarten when I was six years old. After that, I studied primary and high school in public schools. If you’re Brazilian or know about the country, you know how “good” Brazilian public schools are.

Since primary school, I’ve already shown a little talent for writing. I wasn’t a prodigy or a super-gifted boy, but I could write easier than other kids.

At primary school, I participated in some contests related to writing, but I never got any prizes.

During high school, I started writing some poems about relationships and life. With them, I tried other contests in the school, but I didn’t win again.

During my second year of high school in Brazil (where the system consists of three years), I participated in the nationally recognized ENEM (Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio, or National High School Exam). On this test, I got an impressive grade in redaction, 90%. This grade is higher than the national average.

Still, in high school, I started to write erotic short stories. (What? Are you kidding me?). As strange as it seems, I did it. Many people who have read them appreciated those short stories.

After high school, I started to work with telemarketing. It’s an ordinary first job for young people in Brazil. I continued writing; sometimes poems about love and life, other times short stories (most of them were erotic).

I think I always wanted to be a writer, but I didn’t do anything for that to take place.

About 2009, I stopped writing erotic short stories. I focused on poems and rarely wrote short stories or other things.

In 2010, I converted to Protestantism. This had a crucial role in my writing career.

In 2011, I met the love of my life, Ana Carolina. Inspired by our love, I wrote many poems about her and many romantic poems.

Between 2012 and 2013, I wrote my first novel, Dr Sange. I’m sure that’s not a good book, considering my experience and the subject: crime and vengeance. I tried to sell it online and sent the book to some publishers, but I didn’t get any positive response. Then, I gave up on this book.

I tried to write other books but had no enthusiasm or desire to do it.

Image of -Юлия Здобнова(Yuliya Zdobnova) - Pexels

In 2013, I began to read the Holy Bible regularly and continuously. Because of what I read, I produced too many poems with religious themes, almost 400 until 2014. At the same time, I wrote other poems.

Image of John Mark Smith - Pexels

In 2014, I participated in ENEM again, and thank God, I got a good grade. With this grade, I got a scholarship for an administration associate degree. The course lasted two years, from 2015 to 2016 (I was the best in the class and got a gold medal). I had to write a lot during this period, but this time was for scholarly purposes. Sincerely, that was bothering me. There were many rules and models and blah, blah, blah. Colleges prejudice our creativity (my two cents).

During the college, I didn’t write almost anything. My writing career has parked. At that moment, I didn’t think of being a writer, I only thought of being an ordinary worker.

Parathesis: since 2016, I’ve been studying Spanish and English through apps, videos, texts, etc. “What do you mean?” Soon, you’ll understand.

In 2018, I returned to college, this time for an MBA in Strategic Project Management. Again, I had to write for academic purposes. It was a little better than before because the subjects were more interesting. I finished in early 2019.

I had a gap of almost three years without writing. I returned to writing at the end of 2018. I began to write a novel that I thought about for so long but had never started. I delayed writing it, finishing close to September 2019. I sent it to my friend, Anderson Camilo, to read and evaluate. He made it and sent me considerations. Even so, I kept this book on standby.

Image of Pixabay - Pexels

Parallel to the book writing, I returned to writing some poems about reflections of life. I wrote and sent them to some people on WhatsApp. Most of the people told me the poems were very good.

Poem sent on WhatsApp

At the end of 2019, my friend, Anderson Camilo, sent me a link to publish books on Kindle Direct Publishing on Amazon. I had never heard anything about it. But I decided to try. I needed a small book to publish and discover how it worked.

I published my first book, Poesias diversas (Diverse Poems) in December 2019.

Because of my knowledge of Spanish, I did my first translation. I translated my first book and published it on Amazon. The publication was in January 2020.

These two books gave me the enthusiasm to write and publish more.

Do you remember almost 400 poems written between 2013 and 2014?

I divided them into smaller books and started to publish them in February 2020, with the title Poesia Cristã (Christian Poetry). My first book had the support of my Chilean friend, Rodrigo Belmar Cruz, reviewing my translation.

In April 2020, I gathered all the poems I had sent in WhatsApp and made my book Poesia e vida (Poetry and Life). This book was written in Portuguese and Spanish.

I continued this process and translated the novel I had already finished, O caminho para a paz (The Path to Peace). I did the translation to Spanish and a revision in the book, publishing it in September 2020.

In the following months of 2020, I decided to do a new and challenging thing: write a novel in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. I worked hard and got it. My first book in three languages was published, Approved for Life. I was very proud of myself because I achieved something I didn’t know I could achieve. I only could make it because of the knowledge I obtained from studying English and Spanish since 2016.

After that, I got motivated to translate my poetry books into English. It was very hard; I had to learn many new words, expressions, and everything else, but I got it. In October 2020, I published Diverse Poetries, my first translated poetry book into English.

I continued the translation of all my books. In March 2021 I finished my last translation, the novel I published in September 2020, The Path to Peace. All my books were available in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

From March to now (November 2021), I continued writing and publishing simultaneously in three languages. I think that is easier and better than writing an entire book in Portuguese, and so, translating it.

Image of Christina Morillo - Pexels

In 2021, I published four new books: Diverse poetries II (April 2021), Christian Poetry vol. II (June 2021), Exposed Lives (August 2021), and Behaviors (October 2021). This last one was my first book of short stories.

Then, this is my history. From now on, I’ll share more about myself and my work on this blog.

I hope you enjoy this blog and my books.
